Our Approach
SimpleStep does not collect, store, or sell step count, walking and running distance, personal information, or usage data. The app does not use advertising, analytics SDKs, or tracking technologies.
Steps and Distance
With your permission, SimpleStep reads step count and Walking + Running Distance recorded by your iPhone from HealthKit. Apple Watch, manual entries, and third-party apps are excluded. The data is used only for display and summaries in the app. It is not sent off your device or stored as a separate SimpleStep health record. SimpleStep does not write data to HealthKit.
Settings Stored on Your iPhone
Your daily goal, appearance, icon color, onboarding status, and the date of the last goal notification are stored on your iPhone. These settings are removed when you delete the app.
Notifications and Badge
With your permission, SimpleStep uses a silent goal notification and an app icon badge showing today's steps. You can change notification and badge settings at any time in iPhone Settings.
Changing Permissions
You can change HealthKit read permissions at any time in iPhone Settings or the Health app. If permission is revoked, SimpleStep does not display data it can no longer access.
